NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness): Local chapters in all 50 states provide support groups, advocacy and education programs to support those living with a mental health disorder. Helpline 800-950-NAMI (6264)
DBSA (Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance): Local chapters and online resources provide hope, help, support and education, including support groups, to improve the lives of people who have mood disorders.
CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder): Improves the lives of people affected by ADHD through education, advocacy, and support.
Mental Health America: Promotes early detection through online screening tools, education and support services. Check out their A-Z description of common mental health conditions then take a Mental Health Test to help determine next steps.
Child Mind Institute: Offers parents an excellent A-Z online resource for children’s mental health information.
Trevor Project: Provides crisis intervention (by phone, text, chat), suicide prevention services and community resources to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) young people under age 25.
The Dougy Center: Provides support for children, teens, young adults and their grieving families, as well as, support and training to individuals and organizations seeking to assist children in grief.
AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention): Local chapters in all 50 states provide education programs and advocacy to prevent suicide along with support for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.
United Way’s 211: Call, text or chat with your local 211 to find resources and assistance with crisis support for abuse, sexual assault, bullying and suicidal thoughts, as well as, employment, health care and housing.
